What if you could love yourself just as God loves you? How would that change your life? God created us a loving beings. When He created you before the beginning of time, He made you to love Him, yourself and one another. So how does God want you to love yourself?
God loves you unconditionally. No matter what you say, do, think or feel, God has decided to love you no matter what. You qualify to be loved by God. Why? Simply because God is love. Once you understand these truths, then you can begin to love yourself God’s way.
You have the capacity to do what God said you can do. When God gives us a commandment, He also gives us everything we need to obey Him. Why would God tell you to do something you are not capable of doing? Since God cannot lie, that means His commandments are doable and for your benefit as well.
Imagine being able to hear what God says about you to the saints in heaven. What do you think He is saying about you right now? He is pleased with you. He takes joy in knowing you. He loves it when you love yourself the way He loves you. One of the best things you can do for yourself is to say what God says about you.
In Amos 3:3, God says in order for us to walk together with Him, He wants us to agree with Him. God knows what He is talking about. He is the All Knowing God. He knows what is best for you. Loving yourself is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
Speak words of love, acceptance and encouragement to yourself. When you hear the truth, you will begin to believe it. What will happen the moment you realize you truly love yourself unconditionally? I believe it will free you to love others the same way.
One of the great commandments Jesus gave us was to love one another as we love ourselves. How can we truly love others until we love ourselves? Allow the love of God to flow through into the lives of others. Reach out to others in need and offer them a helping hand.
Another way of expressing love is to show respect and honor by freely giving what God has already given you. Why not treat yourself and others to something special and memorable? People will remember how much you love them when you do something thoughtful and meaningful for them.
Remember, God created to receive His love so you can love Him, yourself and others. Love is a choice. You can love yourself and others as much as you want. God does, so why don’t you?
How else can we love?
